Although the excess flab on your hips and buttocks may not be too flattering and a cause for anxiety and panic with bathing suit season just over the horizon, the excess body fat located in your abdominal area can have a serious and significant effect on your long-term cardiac and overall health. So when planning and then beginning a weight loss program it's important to incorporate activities and nutrition elements that will lead you to not only lose the pounds, but also lead you to become leaner through reducing body fat.

A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE STARTING A WEIGHT LOSS PLAN
What is your calorie budget? When starting a weight loss program it is important to have an awareness of what your daily calorie needs are so you can plan your meals accordingly. Calculating your personal caloric needs is easy. Just click on the link just above for my fitness services page. Once on that page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a number of calculator links for caloric needs, body fat etc.
Once you have these base numbers to work from, you then can better plan your trips to the food market and your daily meal plan. Don't be surprised to learn how many daily calories you are entitled to . . . just keep that simple rule in mind, calories OUT MUST exceed calories IN in order for weight loss to occur. This is accomplished through gradually reducing the calories you take in each day in combination with burning additional calories through your physical activities.
So get moving! Grab that special someone or a group of friends and enroll in a ballroom dance class, get walking at your local park or get involved with that local bootcamp class you have been thinking about for the longest time now.

When it comes to our daily eating habits, many individuals lack any real sense of awareness regarding meal timing.
What I mean by this is that many individuals are unaware that eating more substantial carbohydrate and fiber rich meals earlier in the day can greatly decrease the chances for feeling too hungry, losing self control and stuffing ourselves later in the day due to our having built up such a huge calorie deficit.
This is due to the common, albeit false, belief that when striving to cut calories to promote weight loss, significant calorie restriction should begin with the first meal of the day, breakfast.
Quite the opposite is true. Your body needs ample amounts of quality fuel to get you through your busy day. Aim to ease off on calorie intake later in the day, the last 2-3 hours before bedtime, when energy needs are not as high.
This is an ideal time for foods that are not as calorie dense and promote recovery and rejuvenation throughout your body such as fruits, vegetables and low-fat sources of protein.
